Frequently Asked Questions

Checkout upcoming volunteer opportunities and register when you can join us. If we don’t yet have compassion events in your area, donate to help us grow and expand to your area. See below regarding how you can help launch an AAi branch locally.

AAi needs at least two congregational leaders (e.g., one at a mosque, and one at a synagogue and/or church) ready to mobilize their community to serve with another. Stay tuned for details of how to get started! Meanwhile, work to identify a leader in one of the other communities interested to collaborate with you to establish a branch of AAi in your locale.

You should receive a tax-deductible receipt almost immediately after completing your online donation. Checks mailed postally take much longer because AAi staff wants to maximize our time on mission and minimize our time in administration. Checks are receipted once annually in January, along with a complete summary of every donation given in the prior calendar year, so you’ll have everything needed to claim your tax deductions for charitable contributions when doing your tax return.

If your synagogue, church, or mosque is located in the South Bay, send us some Sunday afternoon dates at least 4 months out so we can run them by congregations of other faith communities whose youth groups can collaborate with yours. Once we find a date that works for all three communities, we’ll schedule a planning meeting for youth leaders and adults to workout the agenda of their hygiene kit assembly or meal service event together.

Alternatively, if you’d rather have your group assemble hygiene kits at your congregation without coordinating a larger event with other communities, use our email form to request a list of hygiene supplies for purchasing and let us what date you plan to have your event. We’ll let you know when your group can distribute your kits at an upcoming AAi meal service to the unhoused. Remaining kits can be delivered to our nonprofit distribution partners.
